Fri, 7/30 - Baseliners 3 - Challengers (GA) 5 (L)

The Baseliners 13U season came to an end with an early morning loss that eliminated them from the World Series tournament. In a pool play rematch, the Baseliners jumped to an early 2-0 lead but could not hold on to it, as a few defensive missteps allowed the Challengers back into the game. With nearly half the team nursing injuries, the wounded Baseliners battled to the end but left the go ahead run at the plate. Way to fight back Baseliners! Great season! Safe travels back to Virginia everyone! See you at tryouts!

Thu, 7/29 - Baseliners 13 - Arlington Sage (VA) 11 (W)

After a long lightning delay, the game got underway with a big boom as the Baseliners jumped to a quick 5-0 lead. Sage came battling back to make it 5-3 and that was just the first inning! The Baseliners bats continued to pound away to build up an eventual 13-4 lead. Oh but there's more. Apparently no one told Sage that the game was out of reach. The Baseliners finally silenced Sage just before they knocked down the comeback door. Can't let that happen again! Onward to Friday where the Baseliners will have to win 4 games to stay alive. At this point, 21 teams have been eliminated from the tournament.

Thu, 7/29 - Baseliners 2 - Ashland Blaze (OH) 1 (W)

The Baseliners got off to a rocky first inning but then settled down with great pitching and defense. The bats are still much too quiet though! Determined not to be eliminated, the Baseliners won the game in the bottom of the last inning with a timely line drive to right center with runners on. The Baseliners continue through the grueling losers bracket with a game this afternoon at 4:45pm against our friends from back home in Virginia, Arlington Sage.

Wed, 7/28 - Baseliners 2 - JAX Storm (FL) 3 (L)

The Storm jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead before the Baseliners settled down to battle back to 2-2. The Baseliners played amazing defense to hold the Storm back, but offensively the Baseliners just left way too many runners on base. The game was decided by ITB (international tie break) rules in the 8th inning. Hold your heads up Baseliners! Great pitching, great defense, just need hotter bats! This loss drops the Baseliners to the losers bracket. The next game will be Thursday. Go Baseliners! Not done yet!

Mon, 7/26 - Baseliners 1 - Team Elite (AL) 11 (L)

Yes, unfortunately you read that right. The wheels came off a little bit! Eight unearned runs (not to take anything away from Team Elite who played tough). We're going to be positive about this and have a team party tonight to shake it off! Tournament play begins Wednesday!

Mon, 7/26 - Baseliners 5 - Challengers (GA) 6 (L)

After jumping to a quick 4-0 lead, the Baseliners fought hard to protect those hard earned runs. A few defensive lapses opened the door just enough to let the Challengers battle back into the game. The home team Baseliners surged back in the last inning but left the tying run on.

Sun, 7/25 - Baseliners 10 - Lightning East (RI) 2 (W)

The Baseliners opened pool play Sunday evening with a great all-around performance against the Rhode Island Lightning East. The Baseliners hit deep early in the game to jump to a quick lead and held off a late game Lightning surge with some great defense and more timely hitting. Solid pitching throughout the game got the Baseliners off to a great start! Way to go Baseliners! Two games tomorrow!
